What's the difference between one-time and recurring pricing?
One-time events are a single payment — you pay once and your event is listed. Recurring events (weekly classes, monthly meetups, etc.) use a monthly subscription so your listing stays active automatically. You're paying for the ongoing calendar presence, not just one appearance.
What happens to my free recurring listing after 4 occurrences?
Your event automatically expires and comes off the calendar. You'll get an email letting you know. You can resubmit for free in about 2 minutes — or upgrade to a paid plan and it never expires again.
What does "featured placement" mean?
Featured and Sponsored events appear at the top of the calendar page, above all standard listings. They're the first events people see when they browse. Think front shelf, not back row.
What is the newsletter mention?
Lakes Area Buzz is a weekly community newsletter delivered every Tuesday to 2,100+ local readers across Brainerd, Baxter, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Crosslake, and surrounding communities. Sponsored listings get your event mentioned in the newsletter — every month you're subscribed on a recurring plan, or once for a one-time sponsored listing.
Can I cancel my recurring subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account dashboard and your listing will remain active through the end of the billing period, then come off the calendar. No contracts, no cancellation fees.
Is this more expensive than Eventbrite?
Eventbrite is free to list but charges a percentage of every ticket sold (around 3.7% + $1.79/ticket). We charge a flat fee for the listing itself — we don't take a cut of your ticket sales. For free or low-cost community events, we're the better deal. For ticketed events, run the math on your expected volume.
